BP Revolvers are not classified as “modern firearms" - there is no registration, or background check required to purchase or own in its natural form (for use with black powder cap & ball ammunition) It can be purchased by any adult in all 50 states - Note: Modifications such as Conversion Cylinders (converts the chamber to fire modern bullets instead of BP rounds) May Violate Local regulations.  

An 'antique firearm' is any firearm or replica manufactured in or before 1898. These firearms are not considered firearms under the law and are therefore exempt from the restrictions of 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)
